Beware of Social Security Phishing Scam

We were notified of a recent Phishing scam. This is a fraudulent attempt to capture member data.

A member informed us that they received a phone call from an individual stating they were from the Social Security Office. The fraudster informed the member that they needed to send her a new social security card. The fraudster proceeded to ask the member the name of her bank, where it was located, and the routing information off her checks.

Please NEVER provide any of the following: 

  • Account Number
  • Social security number
  • Three digit security number on back of credit card
  • Private information

Neither South Carolina Federal Credit Union nor any of our business partners acting on our behalf would ever call, text, or email our members requesting such information.
