Young & Free South Carolina Fundraises for Water Missions International
Tuesday, April 24, 2012
(CHARLESTON, S.C.) – April 24, 2012 – Young & Free South Carolina, powered by South Carolina Federal Credit Union, has partnered again with Water Missions International to donate a clean water purification system to a community in Africa.
Throughout the month of April, Project Water targets the 25 and under crowd through several fundraising initiatives:
- Trivia Nights at Perfectly Franks in Summerville—April 12, 19, 26
- Movies in Marion Square—April 27
- Art Show at Mixson Barn in North Charleston—May 12
Last year, Project Water raised $16,000 through community donations, art show fundraiser, text message campaign and South Carolina Federal Credit Union branch fundraisers. Two other organizations—Water for Africa (an affiliate of Water for Life, International) and Hands4others (H4O)—also partnered with Water Missions International to provide safe water to a community on Lake Victoria. As a result, these organizations and Young & Free SC contributed $36,000 to Water Missions International. This donation provided a sustainable water system to the community of Musubi in Uganda.
The Young & Free team went to the village of Musubi to meet with the villagers who now have access to clean drinking water. For more details about Project Water, visit http://www.youngfreesc.com.
