(CHARLESTON, S.C.) – January 16,2014– South Carolina Federal Credit Union announces its fourth annual scholarship competition, awarding a total of $7,500 to three deserving students to use for their college education.
The first place recipient receives $4,000, second place $2,500 and third, $1,000. The online application will be available through March 14, 2014 through smpl., powered by South Carolina Federal, at smplsc.com/scholarship
Applicants must submit an application, transcript, letter of recommendation and written essay. Students will be asked to demonstrate how the credit union's cooperative philosophy of "People Helping People” has affected their lives.
Students planning to attend college during the fall 2014 semester are encouraged to apply by March 14, 2014. Submitted applications will be reviewed by the credit union’s scholarship committee, and winners will be selected based on academic performance, school and community involvement, recommendations from school and community leaders and financial need.
