School Supply Drive Benefits Columbia Area Students
Friday, January 21, 2011
(N. CHARLESTON, S.C.) – January 21, 2011 – South Carolina Federal Credit Union presented the South Carolina Education Association in Columbia with the school supplies collected during its annual holiday project. Community, member and employee donations resulted in hundreds of pencils, pens, crayons, notebooks, folders, and paper for students to use in 2011.
"This is more than just off-setting the need of school supplies," said R. Scott Woods, President and CEO, South Carolina Federal Credit Union. "We're doing our part to help build our community's workforce now and in the future, which begins with the primary education available to our students."
The school supply drive ran from November 1 through December 17. South Carolina Federal branches served as collection sites for school supplies donated from the community, members and employees.
The drive supported the following benefactors: Teachers’ Supply Closet in Charleston; South Carolina Education Association in Columbia; and Plantersville Elementary School in Georgetown.
