(N. CHARLESTON, S.C.) – August 31, 2011 – South Carolina Federal Credit Union raised more than $30,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, which benefits the MUSC Children’s Hospital in Charleston and Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital in Columbia.
“Credit unions have a national partnership with the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals,” said South Carolina Federal Credit Union President and CEO Scott Woods. “Locally, South Carolina Federal is proud to partner with MUSC Children’s Hospital to help raise money to support this vital community resource.”
The credit union’s Children’s Miracle Network campaign ran from July 11 through August 5 and encouraged credit union members to participate by making a donation for a paper balloon to be displayed in the branches. South Carolina Federal employees raised money through a bowling-themed campaign, including a bowling pin decorating contest and bowling tournament.
“The Children’s Miracle Network campaign is always a fun time at the credit union, but this year was especially great because I got to prove my bowling skills to my fellow colleagues,” said South Carolina Federal employee and South Carolina Federal CMN Campaign 2011 Bowling Champion Brandi Owens.
South Carolina Federal sponsors a number of programs throughout the year supporting MUSC Children’s Hospital as part of the national Credit Unions for Kids initiative. Since 1994, South Carolina Federal has raised more than $300,000 for MUSC Children’s Hospital. The national Credit Unions for Kids initiative has resulted in over $80 million for children’s hospitals across the country.
