MasterCard Debit Card Compromise

Monday, August 13, 2012
MasterCard® has notified South Carolina Federal Credit Union of a debit card compromise that may impact some South Carolina Federal members. MasterCard is actively researching the issue to determine the source and extent of the compromise.  South Carolina Federal will remain in close contact with MasterCard and will notify affected members.

If there is an attempt to use your card for a non-typical purchase or from a location outside your usual area, you may receive a call from our security partners asking if the transaction is legitimate.

As a reminder, South Carolina Federal provides CardLock free to our members.  CardLock is simple to use and works on all South Carolina Federal debit and credit cards.  We encourage you to use this fraud-fighting tool to proactively lock and unlock your accounts to prevent unauthorized signature-based use.  Enroll by phone at 877-285-6251 or web at www.cucardlock.com.   Once registered you can manage CardLock by simply calling, visiting a website or using an iPhone or Blackberry app to lock your card when it’s not in use.
