Fifteen area high schools participated in the Lowcountry Food Bank Student Food Drive. Students collected 29,266 pounds of food during the drive, which is equivalent to more than 22,500 meals. The Student Food Drive ran from September 27 – November 8. The winning schools, Ashley Ridge High School and Academic Magnet, were announced during an awards party at the Lowcountry Food Bank.
This was the third annual Student Food Drive, a six-week hunger relief campaign designed to empower high school students. Young & Free South Carolina, a program powered by South Carolina Federal Credit Union, sponsored the event. Visit YoungFreeSC.com
