Protecting our children

Protecting children’s identities and their privacy online is a major concern for us at South Carolina Federal. We recognize that protecting children is the responsibility of both the online industry and parents. We do not solicit data from or market to children. However,

we may, on occasion, promote children’s products, or sponsor events for children. In these instances, we may collect information as outlined in the preceding sections.

How you can help protect your privacy

Following are some simple ways you can help protect your identity and your private information:

• Protect your account numbers, card numbers, PINs (personal identification numbers) and passwords.  Never keep your PIN with, or write your PIN on, your debit or credit card.

• Use caution when disclosing your account numbers, tax identification numbers, etc. to other persons.

• Never disclose an account number, tax identification number or other private information to someone who calls or e-mails you to request it, even if that person claims to be with South Carolina Federal (or another organization where you have an account). Remember, we already have that information in our files, so we would never call you to get it.

• If your address, phone number or name changes, please let us know immediately so we can update our records. That will help ensure our ability to stop unauthorized or fraudulent activity on your accounts and will allow us to contact you immediately if we suspect that such activity has occurred.
